The story behind the Carpe Diem moniker is remarkable in that the logo and the idea originated with a Primal® bicycling shirt.
The shirt was available for a couple of years and then and went out of production in 1999. We used it for our Trek Across Maine team for the American Lung Association of Maine. The team name was a play on words: Carp A Diem instead of the familiar Latin phrase (Carpe Diem). The basic idea of the shirt was to encourage less driving and more biking; on the shirt in one part was printed "One Less CARp". I liked the idea and purpose of the shirt and its fish theme. The fish theme seemed a good match due to my family name and the attractiveness of the yellow carp. When it came time to create a name for my business I took the Latin phrase for "Seize the Day" to express my desire for taking today's technology and helping computer users make the most of today's technology.
